TOWSON, MD— The Baltimore County Commission for Women has selected Perry Hall High School senior McCall Behringer as its 2013 Young Woman of the Year. The announcement was made earlier this month as part of the Commission’s 31st annual Woman of the Year awards. McCall is a 3-letter athlete, flautist, and lead in several of the school’s drama productions. In her spare time, she volunteers for the American Lung Association, Hopewell Cancer Center, March of Dimes and National Kidney Foundation. She was named a 2012 National Kidney Foundation All-Star for her volunteer work in the community. McCall currently serves as the National Young Marine of the Year, a role in which she represents the Young Marine Program worldwide and is responsible for the leadership and ethics training of thousands of her peers. In this role, McCall has represented the U.S. as part of official delegations to Hawaii, Guam, and Iwo Jima. “Simply put, McCall is a stellar student, superb role model, caring person and veryworthy recipient of the 2013 Baltimore County Young Woman of the Year award,” said Perry Hall High School Principal George A. Roberts. “The entire Perry Hall community is very proud of McCall and wishes her continued success in her college career.” County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will recognize McCall alongside Gloria Nelson, the Baltimore County Woman of theYear, and the family of the late Judge S. Ann Brobst, the Baltimore County Woman Making a Difference, at a ceremony to be held on March 21. McCall plans to attend Duquesne University in the fall as she pursues a future career in public relations.
