Inspired by Franklin High teacher’s book, Japanese educators visit his classroom
What: A delegation of Japanese educators will spend the day visiting the classroom of Franklin High School history teacher Bruce Lesh for insights into creating student-centered history lessons. The educators from the Hyogo University of Teacher Education in Kato, Japan, were inspired after reading Lesh’s 2011 book, “Why Won’t You Just Tell Us the Answer?” and asked to visit Lesh and observe his instructional methods.

Superintendent to begin series of community meetings
What: For the second year, Baltimore County Public Schools’ Superintendent S. Dallas Dance will begin the school year by hosting a series of community meetings to meet the public and discuss education and school-related issues with interested citizens. The five meetings to be held this fall at county high schools are part of Dr. Dance’s commitment to have timely, transparent and clear communications and to be responsive to the community. Another series of five meetings will be held in the spring.

Back to School Nights continue at BCPS schools
What: Baltimore County Public Schools continue holding Back to School Night events as a way to prepare students and their families for a successful start to the new school year. The events give parents an important way of learning about the school, its unique opportunities, upcoming events, volunteer and involvement activities and other facets of school life.
