BCPS teachers return to school for the new academic year
What: Teachers return to their classrooms to prepare for the new school year and the arrival of students on Monday, August 26. At many schools, special activities will accompany the return to school by teachers; for educators at Halstead Academy, for instance, the week begins with a visit to the Maryland Science Center for welcome back activities. The morning activities will be followed by a presentation in the center’s planetarium. Team-building, data analysis and learning the new teacher evaluation will complete the first day.

Back-to-School Nights begin at BCPS schools
What: Baltimore County Public Schools begin holding Back-to-School Night events as a way to prepare students and their families for a successful start to the new school year. The events give parents an important way of learning about the school, its unique opportunities, upcoming events, volunteer and involvement activities and other facets of school life. Back to School Festival offers school supplies, activities, information
What: Sponsored by the Kevin Liles For a Better Baltimore Foundation, a Back to School Festival will be held for students and their parents. Hosted by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Superintendent S. Dallas Dance, the festival will offer free backpacks and school supplies, haircuts and immunizations, children’s activities, entertainment, community resources and information and internship and job opportunities.

Classroom doors open to students for the 2013-2014 school year
