TOWSON, MD — Baltimore County Public Schools invites parents and guardians of BCPS students to apply to be considered for the inaugural Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council.
Charged with providing advice and feedback to Superintendent S. Dallas Dance on school system initiatives, council members will meet quarterly with the superintendent and other members of his leadership team.
“I created the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council because parents and guardians are key stakeholders in this school system and vital members of Team BCPS,” said Dance. “To continue our progress, we need the voices of more parents and guardians at the table. Through the council, we hope to encourage even higher levels of family and community involvement in our schools.”
The 15-member Council will be composed of parents/guardians who have at least one child in the school system. Three each will be selected to represent each of the five geographical areas of the county (central, northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest). To ensure diversity, nominees will be evaluated on a variety of factors, including their children’s grade levels, location of residence and areas of experience and interest.
Nomination forms – due back to BCPS by Friday, September 6 – are available on the BCPS website by clicking a link under the “What’s Happening” section on the home page. Parents also may request a nomination form by emailing mprumo@bcps.org or calling 410-887-8706.
Appointees will receive notification by Monday, September 16.
