TOWSON, MD— The school year for Baltimore County’s public school students will end on Friday, June 14, 2013, instead of the originally scheduled end date of Tuesday, June 18. The school system is able to end the school year early because emergency time built into the school calendar was effectively managed. The original schedule for the school year called for high schools to close early on the last three days of school. This schedule has now been altered so that all students – including high school students – will receive full days of instruction during the final days of the school year. The calendar adjustment was approved by the Maryland State Department of Education in recognition that the new schedule assures that Baltimore County students are offered the required 180 days of instruction and that high school students are offered the required number of instructional hours.
